Split hair dyeing: the fashionable trend for the bold

Quarantine allowed the girls to turn on their imagination and find out many different ways to cheer up and have a stylish hairstyle. If you have already tried a lot (ombre, contrasting locks, coloured tips or neon roots), then split hair dyeing will give you a new feeling.

What is it?

It is a technique in which hair is divided into two sections to be dyed separately – in different colours. Most often, it is a classic parting in the middle. The result is a two-tone look with different shades on the right and left sides of the head. As a rule, hairstylists use bright and contrasting shades (blue and pink, purple and acid green, violet and mint) to create split hair dyeing. But you can choose a calmer combination – for example, the colour of milk chocolate and blonde. Or do split hair dyeing with black and white, combine blonde with brown or red with black.

There are many options for this hair colouring. It is not necessary to make a simple parting. Divide the hair into sections at your discretion. You can separate the upper layers of the locks from the lower, make a diagonal divide or create two, three or more blocks. The result depends entirely on how far your imagination can go.

Who will like split hair dyeing

It is impossible to say that the technique may be contraindicated for someone. Such extravagant dyeing is a matter of taste. But you will surely be inspired by people who are not afraid of bright colours and boldly experiment with their appearance.

There are no restrictions on the range: on the contrary, it is based on a combination of different shades. Radical combinations are popular: black and white, red and black, pink and purple, black and purple, mint green and light brown.

There is also no limit to the length of the curls: it can be long, short or medium length.

How to make it at home

There is nothing complicated in hair colouring by this method, and it can be embodied even at home. The following components will be required:

  • two dyes of the necessary colours;
  • hairband;
  • gloves;
  • two special brushes for applying dye;
  • two ceramic cups for diluting colour;
  • hair balm/conditioner;
  • shampoo;
  • comb;
  • hair clips;
  • food foil.

Dyeing begins from the roots. It needs special attention. Apply the composition in the direction from the roots to the tips. After the first half of the head is done, proceed to the second. And the dyed side should also be protected with food foil. After working on both sides, wait for the splitting of natural pigments. This process can take different amounts of time, usually from 15 to 30 minutes. When time passes the colour is washed off: first with clean running water, then with shampoo. After washing, apply balm or conditioner to the hair. It is better to dry locks naturally.
