The most popular event of the year, Met Gala 2019, the costume institute’s Ball was held in New York. World celebrities showed enchanting outfits on the red carpet.
Fashion Oscar traditionally was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The theme of the ball is “Camp: Notes on Fashion.” The organisers took the title from an essay of the same name by an American writer, film and literary critic Susan Sontag about a popular trend in the fashion of the 1960s. In her work, Sontag connects it with kitsch and theatricality. The Camp is also often associated with a bad taste and grotesque.
This year, the biggest stars in the entertainment industry attended the event, including supermodels Gisele Bündchen, Bella Hadid and Naomi Campbell, singers Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, as well as actresses Sophie Turner, Zoe Kravitz and many other world celebrities.
Celebrities are willing to pay an average of 30 thousand dollars for a ticket to Met Gala. But they are much more willing to pay for their haute couture outfits, which this year are striking in luxury and originality.
