The benefits of skin icing

Skin icing is one of the oldest and most controversial procedures. Marilyn Monroe and Marlene Dietrich adored it. But for a long time, most cosmetologists did not like it. Now the practice of "ice washes" is gaining more and more popularity. It is a great way to deal with swelling and bruising under the eyes, tone the skin and save money on countless patches and face masks. The benefits of the procedure, useful home recipes and contraindications, are worth remembering – all these in new material.

The benefits of cold treatments for facial skin

The secret of ice is that it stimulates the protective properties of the human body, activating immune processes. Due to this, the metabolism in the epidermis improves, increasing the elasticity and resilience of the skin. Hyaluronic acid, which is responsible for regulating water balance, is released with redoubled force when wiping the face with an ice cube. Thawed water is absorbed by cells from the surface and kept inside for a long time. Effect on the skin is:

  • maximum hydration;
  • improving blood circulation;
  • narrowing of the pores.

At the same time, the skin acquires smoothness and silkiness, loses greasy shine and becomes dull. Ice, especially with special additives, has a good whitening effect, brightens freckles and fights pigmentation on the face.

Contraindications to skin icing

Unfortunately, this type of home spa is not suitable for everyone. Owners of sensitive, prone to irritation of the skin experts strongly recommend not to experiment with temperature changes. It can adversely affect the condition of the skin. The same goes for people who suffer from acne and other inflammations. In this case, skin icing can only worsen the situation.
