Professional advice: how to wash your hair

Ben Mones, a 36-year-old professional in hairdressing, shared good advice on hair care and its washing. Wash your hair so that it looks no worse than that of the girl in the commercial, is not so simple. Below we tell what exactly needs to be done for this.

Wash as little as possible – but as often as necessary

There is no single answer to the question of how often you need to wash hair because the structure of the hair is individual for each person. Current trends come down to the fact that you should not wash your hair daily.

Most often, there is a problem with very thin curls: if you wash it too often, natural fats are removed from the hair and scalp, which are responsible for elasticity. If you rarely wash it, your curls appear too oily. Ben advises sometimes to use conditioner to create volume instead of shampoo.

How much shampoo to use

The more foam, the better? No! As a rule, you will need a coin-sized shampoo. Besides, do not aggressively rub, squeeze and rinse your hair.

How to wash your hair:

  • take a small amount of shampoo;
  • massage it gently into the curls;
  • leave the shampoo on your hair for a minute;
  • rinse well.

It is worth noting that if you use a sulfate-free shampoo, it does not foam at all! Dirt particles are removed by surfactants.

Monitor the water temperature

High water temperatures adversely affect the condition of the hair. So, you can dry your scalp and roots, and this promises hair loss in the future.

But rinsing your hair with cool water after washing will be useful, on the contrary. This will provide a healthy shine.

Change care products

Professionals recommend changing shampoo every few months to provide hair with various nutrients. Also, in the winter, curls need to be nourished, and in the summer they need to be moisturized.

Wipe dry or not?

Never wipe your hair after washing! This is one of the main mistakes in hair care. Wet curls are very fragile and vulnerable, they easily split and break off. So, the scales on the hair do not smooth out and you deprive your hair of shine.

It will be right to do this: after washing, gently pat your hair with a soft towel, and then wrap it around your head, wait 5-10 minutes. Done!
